Chalk’s & Randy’s Return Policy
At Chalk’s & Randy’s, your satisfaction is important to us. We understand that sometimes a part may not be what you need, or issues can arise. This policy outlines our guidelines for returns and exchanges to ensure a smooth process.
General Return Period:
You may return most new, uninstalled, and undamaged items within 30 days of the original purchase date.
Eligibility & Condition for Returns:
For a return to be accepted, items must meet the following criteria:
- New Condition: The item must be in its original, unused, and uninstalled condition. We cannot accept returns on parts that have been installed, even if briefly, or show signs of wear, damage, or contamination (e.g., oil, grease, dirt).
- Original Packaging: The item must be returned in its original, undamaged manufacturer’s packaging with all original labels, stickers, and protective materials intact. Missing or damaged packaging may result in a denial of return or a restocking fee.
- Complete: All components, accessories, manuals, and included literature must be present.
- Proof of Purchase: A valid original sales receipt or invoice from Chalk’s & Randy’s is required for all returns.
Non-Returnable Items:
Certain items cannot be returned under any circumstances, including:
- Installed or Used Parts: Any part that has been installed, used, or shows signs of wear, including but not limited to, evidence of fluid contamination, scuffing, or mounting marks.
- Custom-Made or Special Order Items: This includes custom-built driveshafts, specific non-stock components ordered specifically for a customer, or any item explicitly designated as “special order” at the time of purchase.
- Electrical Components: Due to their sensitive nature and the potential for damage during installation or testing, electrical components (e.g., sensors, ECMs, wiring harnesses) are generally non-returnable once opened or installed.
- Damaged or Missing Components: Items returned without original packaging, missing parts, or damaged due to improper handling by the customer.
- Clearance or Final Sale Items: Items purchased during special promotions or marked as “final sale” are non-returnable.
Core Returns:
For parts that include a core charge (e.g., transmissions, differentials, power steering pumps, driveshafts), the core return policy is as follows:
- Core Must Be Like-for-Like: The returned core must be the same type of part as the new one purchased.
- Core Condition: The core must be reasonably complete, intact, and not severely damaged (e.g., cracked housings, significant broken components) to qualify for a full core refund. It should be drained of all fluids where applicable.
- Packaging: Cores should be returned in the original packaging from the new unit whenever possible.
- Timeframe: Core returns are typically accepted within 30 days of the new part purchase.
Core refunds will be processed once the core has been inspected and approved.
Return Process:
To initiate a return:
- Contact Us First: Please call us at 713-672-6344 or visit us in person at 838 McCarty St, Houston, TX 77029 before attempting to return an item. This allows us to confirm eligibility and guide you through the process.
- Provide Information: Have your original sales receipt/invoice number and the reason for the return ready.
- Packaging: Carefully re-package the item in its original, undamaged packaging to prevent damage during return transit.
Refunds & Exchanges:
- Refund Method: Approved refunds will be issued to the original form of payment used for the purchase. Please allow 5-10 business days for the refund
to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or credit card company. - Exchanges: If you need a different part, we can facilitate an exchange for an eligible item. Any price difference will be charged or refunded accordingly.
Shipping Costs:
- Customers are generally responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to an error by Chalk’s & Randy’s (e.g., wrong item shipped, defective product).
- For in-person returns at our Houston location, no shipping costs apply.
Restocking Fees:
A restocking fee of up to 20% may be applied to returns of certain non-defective items, especially for special orders or items requiring significant handling, inspection, or re-packaging. You will be informed if a restocking fee applies when you initiate the return.
Damaged or Defective Items:
If you receive an item that is damaged during shipping or is defective upon arrival, please contact us immediately (within 3 business days of receipt). Do not attempt to install or use the part. We will arrange for a return or exchange at no additional cost to you and work quickly to resolve the issue.
